Curious about the meatsuit?

Backstory

>> I'm actually from Austin, Texas. Yes.

It’s so rare these days that my Austin clients compared it to spotting a unicorn.

My father is a video artist and sound engineer, his claim to fame is working with Parliament-Funkadelic.
My mother is a visual artist, she aspired to do special effects makeup for film. She was also a receptionist for a Vidal Sassoon salon in the 80s, where she learned some hair basics that she passed down to me.

Eventually, I began to dye my own hair around age 12. My tween years involved a lot of wandering the Texas Hill Country by myself and a lot of latchkey kid DIY makeovers.

>> I went to a hippie high school called Griffin, my graduating class had a total of 8 people in it. I remember all of the Old Austin venues: Liberty Lunch, La Zona Rosa, the original Austin Music Hall. I remember my underage friends playing at the original Emo's on Red River and at the Hideout. I've been going to Elysium since I was in high school and spent 5 years moonlighting as a DJ there.

>> I got into a top shelf art school (SAIC) thanks to my photography portfolio. I studied drawing, sculpture, Celtic literature, collage, and film. After freshman year, I lost my funding so I dropped out to go to beauty school.

My art background heavily influenced my work as a professional colorist. I spent 16 years as a professional hairstylist, specializing in fantasy color and alternative haircuts. My hair aesthetic is rainbow hair for feral children. The goal is to have the fantasy color look like it grew out of your head that way; Gelflings and Wood Nymphs and Rusalkis. Mixed with my trad goth roots; Punk rock geometry and Post Apocalyptic looks. Sprinkled with a dash of Anime influence.

Today in 2024, I find myself having to switch careers again, as my physical disability rendered me unable to continue as a hairdresser.

Back to fine art I go.
The beginning is the end is the beginning.
